Valentine’s Day Cocktail – Love Potion #3

by Columbine Quillen on February 14, 2010

Valentine’s Day just begs for its own cocktail.  This is a lovely combination of a couple of known aphrodisiacs.  Enjoy!

Love Potion #3

(for the number of aphrodisiacs in it)

1.5 ounces Navan vanilla cognac*

1.5 ounces honey syrup

1.5 ounces fresh squeezed lemon

Shake and strain and top with an ounce of your favorite bubbly.

*If you haven’t tried Navan, you are really missing out.  It is a phenomenal cognac infused with Madagascar Vanilla.

Honey syrup is just a combination of 1/2 honey and 1/2 hot water.  Mix until combined.  You will find this much easier to work with.

The Aphrodisiacs:

Vanilla

The scent and flavor of vanilla is believed to increase lust.

Honey

Many medicines in Egyptian times were based on honey including cures for sterility and impotence.  And the term honeymoon comes from mead that used to be customary at a wedding.  Mead is fermented from honey and drinking mead was thought to “sweeten” the marriage.

Sparkling Wine (Champagne)

Wine relaxes and helps to stimulate our senses. There is no doubt that drinking champagne can be an erotic experience.

Hi Columbine,
I was wondering how I could get a hold of you. I’m with Craft Distillers/Hangar One and I’d like you to try some of our spirits and let us know what you think. Thanks in advance!

Yum I might have to add this to my list of cocktails to make at my Valentines party. One already on it is TY KU’s Melt My Heart Mojito
1.5 oz. TY KU Liqueur
1 oz. Diet Sprite
Squeeze of Lemon and Orange.
So fruity and refreshing, also low in calories! Who could resist that.
